Bourgogne

Bourgogne

Four grapes are grown in the region:

  • Chardonnay: A white grape that makes up about 57% of Burgundy’s vineyard area. It produces dry, mineral-driven whites in Chablis, rich and complex wines in the Côte de Beaune, and buttery styles in the Mâconnais.
  • Pinot Noir: A red grape that covers about 34% of the region’s vineyards. It is the main red grape of the Côte d’Or, known for delicate red fruit aromas, high elegance, and strong aging potential.
  • Gamay: A red grape grown widely in the southern Beaujolais portion of Burgundy, known for juicy, fruit-forward wines
  • Aligoté: A white grape (making up roughly 6% of plantings) that produces crisp, high-acidity wines often used for the traditional Kir cocktail
