Pork Chop in Soy and Ginger with Stir Fried Sesame Cabbage

Total Cook Time

45 minutes (30 minute marinade)

Ingredients

  • 4 large pork chops, fat trimmed, seasoned with pepper
  • MARINADE
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 thumb sized piece of ginger, grated
  • 1 orange, zest and juice
  • 1 tbsp muscovado sugar (or brown sugar)
  • CABBAGE
  • 50g walnuts
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 bunch of spring onions
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

Method

  1. Pork marinade contains 2 tbsp of soy sauce, the ginger, orange zest and orange juice and sugar.
  2. Marinade chops for 30 minutes.
  3. Toast the walnut pieces and sesame seeds. Few minutes on high heat should do it. Setaside.
  4. Grill the chops, 4-5 minutes per side usually.
  5. Cabbage preparation involves adding 1 tbsp olive/sunflower oil to a pan. Add the spring onions and stir fry for 30 seconds. Add the cabbage and a splash of water. Cover and cook for 5 minutes. Stir occasionally.
  6. Drain the cabbage once cooked. Add the toasted sesame seeds and walnuts. Add 1 tbsp soy sauce and 1 tsp of sesame oil.
  7. Serve the pork with the juices spooned over.
